Wife's family tree

Started by: Mac1964 (12)

I am putting together my wife's family tree, I have DNA matches to Middlehurst and Cummings family names and I've found connections to Flasby, Coreless, and Prior family names. These are all in the Ince in Makerfield area and possibly her paternal side matches.
Her maiden name is Melling which is her birth mothers name but she does not know her fathers name.
I have traced he maternal side though Melling, Gardiner, and Brooks on Ancestry and My Heritage.
I would be very grateful for any information to help me with my brick wall.

I know some Mellings, originating from Ince. Norman Melling, who was a train driver, his daughters, Lorraine and Tina and his son, Max.

I've managed to connect all the name now, Lynda's grandfather Leslie melling born 1916 to Mathew Melling 1870-1941 and Loruetta Gore 1877-1950.
Loruetta had a brother Eliakim 1878-1952 and through Eliakim's daughter Pleasant Grose (Gore)1898-1974 to Dorothy Allen (Grose) 1926-1979.
Dorothy's daughter married a Prior which the gave me the connection to many other family names such as Pilling, Deluce, Pickervance,Brooks/Brookes, and Liptrot.
All have a connection to Ince in Makerfield, so I'd love to hear from anyone who knew one or more or related in any way.

Leslie Melling the son of Matthew & Luetta was born 1904, not 1916 the Leslie born in 1916 was most likely their Grandson , possibly son of Margaret (their eldest daughter) very likely born iligitimate , but would need Birth Cert or Baptism record to confirm??

Hi JAMB, I'm still doing a lot of research but hat would make Leslie Melling 25 yrs older than his wife Hazel Gardiner born 1928,

Correct that is if you have the correct Leslie , if it is the Leslie born 1916 then he would have been 12 tears older, I believe the Leslie born 1904 married Nellie Morris 1935
Check the birth records on Lancashire BMD for Leslie 1904 and 1916 , it will give you the mothers maiden name ,
1904 maiden name Gore , 1916 maiden name Melling

I've sorted it out now and yes Leslie is 1904 and married Nellie in 1935, I checking to see if he remarried in 1948 as Katherine's mother is Hazel Gardiner.

i believe the two Leslie are two different people ,( possibly Uncle and nephew?) if it is any help I think the one born in 1904 died in 1998 and the one born in 1916 died in 1991,
Leslie and Hazel married at St. Peters Bryn , you can ask if anyone on WW can get access to the records, or order the marriage certificate either from Wigan Register Office or from the GRO office Southport I think they cost £11 if order online
